Firefox World Record ★
If you’ve finished reading the newspaper with little to do, I’ve got some work for you. Mozilla is trying to create a Guinness World Record by asking people to download Firefox 3 on the day it is released, the day they call World Download Day.
Now if you’re still browsing using a non-standards compliant browser that’s makes my website look weird to you, the following can be ignored. If you are using Firefox or some other Mozilla-based browser as part of your default set, let me ask you to pledge to download Firefox 3 by clicking on “LinkConnect” below. You’re going to download Firefox 3, sooner or later. Why not download it the day it is released? By pledging you get the download link by email as part of their reminder.
I love the browser but couldnt care less about these gimmicks, make great browsers, leave world record attempts to others.
Guinness Records can’t be called gimmicks, wouldn’t that be rather harsh? It’s just promoting the browser you love. They are making a great browser, which Microsoft cannot complain about.
With the security glitch in Safari, Microsoft tore it down and warned all users of Windows about it being a threat without telling them that if they were still stuck to IE6 they’re probably more vulnerable than they should be.
Anyway, that’s a different story. You talk about the things you love or hatewhen you start a conversation. Pledging can be considered some kind of medium of communication I guess. Pledging doesn’t create that record. Downloading it promptly does. And the world record will be created automatically for all you know. A little publicity doesn’t hurt though.
