I haven’t gone and searched on Google about this but here is how I think it is possible.

I printed out a series of Yahoo and Google account creation captcha images and scanned them with a 5 year old trial version of Caere OmniPage(don’t know whether it still exists) on this new 24-inch iMac I have at home. Surprisingly the OCR converter, converted 6/10 of these images into text that matched accurately. I was to a certain extent happy with the results. Trying the same piece of software on Windows, I got only 2/10 converted to text(Why do Macs have to be so good?). Now it wouldn’t be at all difficult to skip captcha at these millions of websites which use word verification by writing a script which uses a virtual scanner passing an image of an already existing word document into caere omnipage which could give the text output into the word verification form box through a plugin developed for Safari/Firefox. Sorry for the long sentences.

Difficult, but implementable.
